Rooted in Knowledge, Growing Through Community
“To Know God and Make Him Known”
Hi, I’m Amanda—a homeschool mom, a lover of Jesus and the truth. I’m over here in my little three-foot world, doing my best to raise four children who love and follow the Lord, while giving them an education that encourages resourcefulness, free thinking, respect, and kindness.
When my husband, Caleb, and I first decided to homeschool, I tried to recreate preschool and kindergarten at home. But I quickly realized how lonely that was—for both me and the kids. After much prayer and some honest conversations with friends who homeschool, I was encouraged to look into Classical Conversations (CC). At the time, I didn’t fully understand how CC worked, but I knew something had to change—so we signed up.
I pray constantly that my children will love Jesus and walk with Him all their lives. When I learned that CC’s mission is “to know God and make Him known,” I knew I had found the community I was missing—the one I needed to make this journey not only doable, but meaningful.
Classical Conversations has brought so much peace and direction to our homeschool. It’s made planning simple, with every subject we need to stay compliant with homeschool laws already laid out for us.
We’ve been a part of the Summitview Community for three years now, and it has truly been one of the greatest blessings in this season. I’m so thankful for the encouragement, structure, and Christ-centered community it has brought to our lives.
Our Summitview Community
Our community meets on Mondays at The Cross Church on Summitview, from September through April. Classical Conversations serves students from Pre-K through high school graduation—there’s truly something for everyone here.
Each week, we dive into new memory work across subjects like History, English, Math, Science, Latin, Geography, and the Timeline. Students also enjoy hands-on projects in art and science, along with weekly presentations that build confidence and communication skills.
Throughout the year, we host outreach events where we model being the hands and feet of Jesus in our local community. In past years, we’ve been blessed to serve organizations like Rod’s House and the Mission.
And of course, we can’t forget the field trips! From touring helicopters at the Yakima Training Center to visiting the local fire station and the McAllister Museum of Aviation, we love learning beyond the classroom.
We’re all about doing life together—and we’d love for you to join us!
